DJI Mini 3 Pro Specs

The DJI Mini 3 Pro is a small-sized drone weighing less than 249 grams, but it sure packs a punch with its capabilities while in the air and taking magnificent birds-eye view photos and videos.

Due to the weight of the Mini 3 Pro being under 250 grams, most counties don’t require you to go through the process of registering the drone.

So now that the Mini 3 Pro has finally been released, how good is this drone and is it actually worth the hefty price tag? Let’s go into some of the DJI Mini 3 Pro specs and find out!

How Much Does The DJI Mini 3 Pro Cost?

Before we get into the specs of the Mini 3 Pro, you can check the latest prices below through DJI’s official website and on Amazon.

Mini 3 Pro Flight Times

The DJI Mini 3 Pro has 2 different battery types – Standard Intelligent Battery & The Intelligent Flight PLUS Battery.

The flight times for the DJI Mini 3 Pro will vary depending on factors such as wind conditions, flight speeds, video & photo captures, etc.

The below DJI Mini 3 Pro specs are for flying in ideal conditions with no wind and at a speed of 21.6 kph (13.42 mph).

  • Standard Intelligent Battery will give you a maximum flight time of 34 minutes in windless conditions
  • Intelligent Battery PLUS will give you a maximum flight time of 47 minutes in windless conditions

The standard intelligent battery comes with the ‘Fly More Combo’ package and the intelligent battery PLUS is only available with the ‘Fly More PLUS Combo’ package.

DJI Mini 3 Pro Specs – Flight Distance

With DJI’s OcuSync 3.0 transmission system, the Mini 3 Pro drone offers flight stability of up to 12 km from the remote controller. This is measured in an urban environment with low interference.

In areas that have strong signal interference, you can still get around a 1-3 km transmission range.

In medium signal interference environments, you can achieve anywhere from 3km-7 km transmission range. This is a huge step up from the DJI Mavic Mini 2.

Obstacle Avoidance for the Mini 3 Pro

DJI has finally added obstacle avoidance to their DJI Mini drone series without going over the 250 grams! With their new technology, this is a massive upgrade knowing that your drone can now finally detect obstacles and avoid being crashed and damaged.

The Mini 3 Pro drone uses forward, rearward and downward sensors, but would have been nice to have sensors on the sides, but I guess they needed to keep the weight under 250 grams.

How Good is the Mini 3 Pro Camera?

The DJI Mini 3 Pro camera is a powerful and reliable tool for shooting professional-quality videos.

The camera has a 1/1.3 inch CMOS sensor, which is capable of shooting 48MP in JPEG/DNG (RAW) formats.

The Mini 3 Pro camera comes with a 3-axis gimbal that allows you to capture smooth, steady shots in any situation. The 3-axis gimbal allows you to use the camera even when there are large movements like wind gusts, sharp movements of the drone, and also when following subjects i.e. motorbikes, motor racing, etc.

The Mini 3 Pro camera has some other great features as well, including:

  • Raw image format support (a feature that allows you to save your images as uncompressed files)
  • HDR (High Dynamic Range) shooting mode (which allows you to capture both shadows and highlights at once)
  • Electronic Image Stabilization (to help prevent motion blur from things like wind gusts)

Check out how stable the video footage is below when the Mini 3 Pro is flown in 50 kph winds. (I wouldn’t risk flying in 50 kph winds myself, but this will give you an idea of how stable the gimbal is in extreme wind conditions).

Does the DJI Mini 3 Pro Camera Have a Zoom Function?

The DJI Mini 3 Pro camera does have a zoom function 4K @ 2x zoom, 2.7K @ 3x zoom, FHD @ 4x zoom.

Vertical Shooting – TikTok Creators Will Love This!

Now, if you are a TikTok creator, you will love the vertical shooting function to shoot your photos and videos in portrait mode. Vertical shooting mode is easily activated by simply tapping an onscreen button on your remote screen/phone.

It can get boring sometimes just taking landscape photos and videos, so this is an amazing feature that DJI has thought about and implemented.

Quickshot Modes

Just like the Original Mavic Mini and the Mavic Mini 2, the Mini 3 Pro comes with quickshot modes too. The quickshot modes are:

  • Dronie – The drone ascends and flies backward while keeping the subject in focus, then returns to its starting position
  • Helix – The drone ascends and spirals around the subject, then returns to its starting position
  • Rocket – The drone ascends while pointing the camera in a downward position to keep the subject in focus, then returns to its starting position
  • Circle – The drone flies around the subject, then returns to its starting position
  • Boomerang – The drone flies around the subject in an oval shape and ascends as it’s flying away from the subject and then descends as it’s returning to the start position.
  • Asteroid – The drone flies upward and backward while taking several photos, then returns to its starting position

Hyperlapse Modes

The DJI Mini 3 Pro comes with 4 hyperlapse modes – Free, Circle, Course Lock, and Waypoint.

Free Hyperlapse Mode

When in Free mode, you can use this mode whether your drone is on the ground or in the air. The drone will automatically take photos and then generates a hyperlapse video for you. All you have to do is input the interval times you would like between photos and how long you would like the video to go for. The drone will take the number of photos required to produce the video length that you require.

Circle Hyperlapse Mode

When using the Circle mode, you need to select your subject for your drone to fly around, how long you would like the video to be, the max speed, and if you want the drone to fly around the subject clockwise or anti-clockwise direction. The drone will then fly around the subject while taking photos and will generate the hyperlapse video for you.

Course Lock Hyperlapse Mode

With Course Lock mode, you can fix your flight direction and while the drone is flying you have the option to choose a subject if you wish, then the drone will focus on the subject selected while flying in the fixed flight direction.

Waypoints Hyperlapse Mode

When using Waypoints, you choose 2 to 5 points that you would like your drone to fly to. While the drone is flying to these waypoints it will take photos at the intervals that you selected to match the video length that you desire.

DJI Mini 3 Pro Speeds

The DJI Mini 3 Pro has a maximum speed of 57.6 kph (35.79 mph), which equates to 16 m/s.

Here are the speed modes for the Mini 3 Pro:

  • Sports Mode – 16 m/s – 57.6 kph (35.79 mph)
  • Normal Mode – 10 m/s – 36 kph (22.36 mph)
  • Cinematic Mode – 6 m/s – 21.6 kph (13.42 mph)

DJI Mini 3 Pro Specs – Wind Resistance

The Mini 3 Pro has very little trouble handling high-speed winds as it has a wind resistance of level 5. This means that the Mini 3 can handle wind speeds of up to 10.7 m/s (24 mph / 38 kph). If you fly your drone in winds stronger than this, you have a great risk of losing or crashing your drone.

DJI Mini 3 Pro Recommended Micro SD Cards

Before taking off with your aircraft and taking videos and photos, you will be required to buy a Micro SD card to put in your drone to do so.

When purchasing a micro SD card, you must ensure that it has a UHS-I Speed Class of 3 or higher.

Conclusion

DJI’s Mini 3 Pro drone is an amazing little piece of technology that is only 249 grams but surely can pack a punch with all of its functions, quality, and flying abilities. This drone has ticked all of the boxes for me and I reckon it would be hard to beat with any other drone weighing less than 250 grams.
